Incorporating items of significance to/or evocative of the deceased, Ellen creates individual custom yahrtzeit candle holders to be used on the anniversary of their death. She says,

As I build each structure, I weave in small items the deceased person may have collected, such as stones from a trip to Israel, or things that evoke memories of that person, such as a mahjong tile or ceramic figurine of a cat. I incorporate clear/ translucent materials so that when the candle is lit, it gives the comforting impression of someone being home.

Each of these one-of-a-kind structures is made of stone, tile, glass, and found objects,

coated in clear resin, and mounted on a cork-backed tile.
