Artist's statement: A rediscovery of the endless possibilities of life is the driving force behind my work. Using acrylic, ink and collage, I create textural atmospheres inspired by the beauty, harmony, and dissonance of the cosmos as well as by the emotions that shape my experience of the world.
Ellen Kalin is a Maryland artist who specializes in abstract painting, primarily acrylic on canvas, and makes available high-quality giclee images of her work. She has harnessed her early training in painting and design to create an original process that borrows from batik and other artistic traditions, including collage.
Ellen got her undergraduate degree in geography from Colgate University and her Master of Arts in Publications Design from the University of Baltimore. Ellen is a member of several local artist groups;, has exhibited in Maryland and DC; and does commission work for private collectors, interior designers, and corporate clients.
